There are two main types of contact lenses:
Hard Lenses which are usually made of rigid gas-permeable plastic and cover only part of the cornea.
Soft Lenses which are made of a very soft and flexible water absorbing material which conforms closely to the eye shape.
Your Optometrist will recommend the lens type best for you based on the health of your eyes, your vision problems and the type of work you do.

Disposable contact lenses are very popular in that they are discarded after being worn for a few days or weeks. The advantage of these lenses is that they require little maintenance and cleaning expense by comparison with conventional contact lenses. Disposable contact lenses today come in a wide range of colours, designs and patterns.
