Sub-Regional Advocacy Groups


The sub-regional advocacy groups are part of a network of advocacy groups established in Gippsland by the Gippsland Disability Resource Council. Theses groups are located in Bairnesdale, Latrobe Valley, Leongatha, Sale, Warragul and Wonthaggi.
All the Advocacy Groups do the following:-

All the Advocacy Groups have gone from strength to strength, tackling and resolving many issues affecting the quality of life of people with a disability, and their family members or carers, in all the sub-regional areas.

Bairnesdale Advocacy Group

The Bairnesdale Advocacy Group was formed after a public meeting held at the offices of East Gippsland Personnel on 27th July, 1995.


Latrobe Valley Advocacy Group

The Latrobe Valley Advocacy Groups, was formed after a public meeting held at the Morwell Club on October on October 10th 1996.


Leongatha Advocacy Group-Support Help Unit Gippsland South {SHUGS}

The Support Help Unit Gippsland South {SHUGS}, formerly known as the Leongatha Advocacy Group, was formed after a public meeting held at the Leongatha Community House on September 22nd, 1993.


Sale Advocacy Group

Sale Advocacy Group was formed after a public meeting held at the Industry Training Centre, East Gippsland College of TAFE on, 28th July, 1995.


Warragul Advocacy Group

The Warragul Advocacy Group was formed after a public meeting held at the home of Viv Taylor on, 27th September, 1993.


Wonthaggi Advocacy Group-We Help Ourselves {WHO}

We Help Ourselves (WHO), formerly known as the Wonthaggi Advocacy Group, was established after a Public Meeting Held in Mitchell House Wonthaggi in November 1993.
