After establishing a good and satisfied client base in the area of mobile mechanical repairs and home tuning. Mel Carey's interest in Citroën cars was followed by establishing Traction Restorations Australasia in 1996.

With the successful establishment of Traction Restorations Australasia, it was decided to expand and generalise the Citroën side of the business by establishing Carey Motors Pty Ltd and to become an authorised Citroën Service and Parts agent. This was done in 1997/1998 and both Bairnsdale Home Tune and Traction Restorations Australasia were incorporated into Carey Motors.
