Ensembles within the Band
With a large proportion of the band having an interest in jazz music, it seemed natural that there be a jazz band made up of members from the brass band. Duck Soup is a small jazz band made up of some of the adults, and occassionally works at various pubs and events, even in Corowa at the Federation Festival. They are a seasoned group of musicians, capable of playing for all sorts of occasions.
But not only do the adults have an interest in this music. The kids of the band have got together and formed their own band, "Blow it out your brass!". They play not only mainstream jazz but rock, swing, funk, latin, blues and anything that sounds good. It is a good place for the kids to practise and learn how to play in a group like this. All are keen to make the most out of their playing and have lots of fun.
Apart from all this music making, there is a regular group of silly people who ruin a good walk by creating mayhem on a small white ball around a large field. "Golfers!" These hardy souls can usually be found on the "South Pines Golf Course" in Lindenow-South most weekends. ( Actually they can be found amongst the trees - rarely on the fairways! ) This group is made up of the most senior and respected band members - and they should know better.
